8 July 2007 - These thirsty looking pumpkin plants are planted no-till. That means that they ground was NOT plowed and cleared first. The rye group crop was killed and knocked down, and the pumpkin seeds were planted through it. The dead rye acts as a weed mat, and holds moisture in. |
