July 2006 - See the runner being sent out at the left side of this plant? The vine is thick and there is a curled tendril and one straightened tendril. Those tendrils reach out and burrow into the soil. Pumpkins do not like being blown around and moved by the wind. These tendrils act like tie-downs for the growing plant.
