Late July 2005 - Think of sweet corn as a perennial plant. It grows from spring to summer, but is in "bloom" (as in bears ears of corn) for only 2 weeks. That means you will have less than 2 weeks to pick corn from 1 patch of corn. So Farmer Ben staggers the planting so extend the corn season through the summer. Pretty smart, huh? |
